Sandbox

Test integrations and payment flows against production-equivalent API behavior without touching live data or real money.

Any authenticated, active Live Business or Contractor account can switch into Sandbox directly from the account switcher — no allowlist, no separate signup. Selecting Sandbox bootstraps a matching isolated account on first entry.

Create sandbox credentials while the account switcher shows Sandbox. A bk_live_ key is rejected by the sandbox API and abk_test_ key is rejected by the live API.

Isolation guarantees

  • Separate database, Redis, authentication sessions, and storage.
  • Stripe test mode plus PayPal and Wise sandbox credentials.
  • Outbound email, SMS, and automation disabled unless explicitly enabled.
  • Sandbox records and credentials never appear in Live.

Integration checklist

  • Use the sandbox API origin for every server-to-server request.
  • Create a sandbox API key; do not reuse a live key.
  • Register a separate sandbox webhook endpoint and signing secret.
  • Use sandbox checkout and payout-embed URLs in test clients.
  • Verify webhook signatures and exercise retry/idempotency behavior.
